Elon Musk Denounces Trump’s Policy Bill as a ‘Disgraceful Abomination’
President Trump and Elon Musk meet in the Oval Office following Musk’s announcement to step down from his special government position.

On Tuesday, Elon Musk publicly criticized the sweeping Republican bill aimed at advancing President Trump’s domestic agenda, describing it on X as a “disgusting abomination” and warning House members who supported it that “you know you did wrong.”

This sharp rebuke from the tech entrepreneur, who recently stepped down from his government role overseeing efficiency, signals a growing divide between Musk and the president. Until lately, Musk had maintained a largely cooperative stance with the Trump administration.

Musk began voicing concerns about the bill last month, expressing disappointment over its scale and its projected impact on the federal deficit during an interview on CBS News’s “Sunday Morning.”

Tuesday’s comments marked an escalation, with Musk describing the legislation as “massive, outrageous, pork-filled” and stating, “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore.” He further warned that the bill would significantly increase the already enormous budget deficit and accused Congress of pushing America toward bankruptcy.

A White House spokesperson responded by affirming that the president remains firm in his support for the legislation, referring to it as “one big, beautiful bill” and noting that Musk’s stance would not influence the administration’s position.

The legislation, officially titled the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act, aims to reduce taxes—primarily benefiting wealthy individuals—while increasing funding for the military and immigration enforcement. To offset costs, the bill proposes cuts to health, nutrition, education, and clean energy programs.

Musk’s opposition comes as the bill faces crucial moments in Congress. Despite President Trump’s push for quick approval—including summoning reluctant House members to the White House—the bill passed the House amid significant internal Republican tensions.

Republican senators have already indicated plans to amend the bill, with fiscal conservatives demanding deeper cuts to Medicaid and other programs to prevent a surge in the national debt estimated to reach trillions.
