The question “What are you wearing?” is a staple at any red carpet gathering. At the recent Met Gala, which celebrated the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” some guests provided an unexpected answer.

Emma Chamberlain, who hosted Vogue’s livestream of the prestigious event, revealed, “I’m wearing Courrèges and eBay.”

Similarly, actor and singer Jeremy Pope described his look as featuring a vintage Maison Margiela vest paired with “custom eBay tailored trousers.”

Contrary to a luxury fashion line launch, eBay’s presence at the Met Gala stems from its role as an official sponsor since 2024. The multiple references to the online resale platform underscored its growing influence in high fashion.

Stylist Law Roach, who worked with Pope, explained, “I’m wearing Burberry, but all my accessories were sourced on eBay,” highlighting pieces such as a Tiffany brooch, a Cartier ring, and a Patek Philippe watch. He added, “eBay is an incredible place to discover treasures.”

The collaboration was also showcased in a TikTok video on eBay’s official account, featuring Roach and Pope and emphasizing how the platform helped craft Pope’s sartorial homage to Black dandyism.
