George Clooney’s Broadway debut, the play 'Good Night, and Good Luck,' has emerged as one of the standout productions of the 2024-25 season, shattering box office records and captivating audiences with its timely examination of the vital role played by independent journalism.

Expanding its reach beyond the theater, CNN plans to air a live broadcast of the penultimate performance on June 7 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. The broadcast will include pre- and post-show discussions focused on the play and the current landscape of journalism.

In a recent interview, Clooney explained that while there were initial plans to tour the production internationally, including stops in London and Paris, the decision was made to capture the show at its peak with the original cast. He noted, "Because the newscasts are all performed live, this format lends itself perfectly to live television—there’s no safety net, which makes it an exciting challenge."

Clooney also shared that following the live broadcast, the play will be available for streaming, though the platform has yet to be finalized. "We’re currently negotiating among several offers to determine the best distribution option moving forward," he said.

The Broadway adaptation of 'Good Night, and Good Luck,' which began performances in March, is based on the 2005 film chronicling the historic confrontation between pioneering television journalist Edward R. Murrow and Senator Joseph R. McCarthy, known for his anti-communist crusade.
