Instagram has evolved into an unexpected yet effective dating platform for celebrities, with an increasing number of famous couples attributing their relationships to private messages exchanged on the social media site.
In December 2022, country singer Kelsea Ballerini sent a late-night direct message to actor Chase Stokes saying, “hiii chase stokes.” The actor replied a couple of hours later with, “Hey there how u doin.” Their connection has since blossomed into a relationship lasting over two years.
NBA player Kyle Kuzma reached out to model Winnie Harlow via Instagram in 2019 and followed up again in spring 2020 after she missed his initial message. She responded to the second message, and by December, the couple announced their engagement.
Actress Vanessa Hudgens initiated contact with former baseball player Cole Tucker after seeing him in a virtual meditation session hosted by Jay Shetty. Recalling the moment, she shared that she immediately messaged him on Instagram, saying, “Hey, it was nice to meet you.” The pair married in November 2023.
Natalie Joy sent a direct message to former reality TV star Nick Viall in September 2019 after spotting one of his Instagram photos on her Explore page with the words, “You’re unreal.” They wed in April 2024.
