The extensive two-day search in Minnesota ended last night with the arrest of Vance Boelter, 57, who is suspected of assassinating a state legislator and shooting another individual. Authorities apprehended Boelter near his rural residence southwest of Minneapolis after a local resident identified him on a trail camera and officers tracked his movements using a drone as he attempted to evade capture through dense shrubbery.

Officials believe Boelter is responsible for the fatal shooting of Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, as well as a separate attack that injured State Senator John Hoffman and his wife. During the investigation, law enforcement discovered a notebook in Boelter’s possession listing approximately 70 potential targets, including various politicians and Planned Parenthood facilities.

He faces charges including two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.
