A devastating plane crash occurred on Thursday near Ahmedabad in Gujarat, claiming the lives of at least 204 individuals aboard an Air India flight that had 242 passengers and crew on board.
This tragic accident stands as the most lethal aviation disaster in India since 1996 and ranks among the deadliest worldwide in recent years.
The flight was destined for London, carrying passengers of various nationalities: 169 Indian citizens, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian. Confirmation on survivors remains pending.
The aircraft crashed onto the grounds of a medical college, resulting in the deaths of five students. Injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals, though it has not been clarified whether they were passengers or bystanders.
