Erik Prince, a prominent private military contractor and known supporter of former President Donald Trump, is working alongside Haiti’s government to conduct lethal operations targeting the gangs terrorizing the country and threatening control of the capital city.

Prince, who founded the controversial security firm Blackwater Worldwide, has signed a contract aimed at confronting criminal groups responsible for killing civilians and seizing large areas of territory, according to senior Haitian and U.S. officials as well as security experts familiar with his involvement in Haiti.

In recent months, the Haitian government has employed U.S. contractors, including Prince, to form a covert operations unit deploying drones to eliminate gang members. This team has been operating unmanned aerial vehicles since March, though authorities have yet to confirm the death or capture of any high-value targets.

Security sources say Prince has also been recruiting Haitian military veterans to send to Port-au-Prince, with plans to deploy up to 150 mercenaries this summer. Additionally, he recently shipped a substantial cache of weapons to the country, according to two experts.

The Haitian government is awaiting the arrival of these arms and additional personnel to strengthen its campaign against the gangs.

U.S. officials are reportedly aware of Prince’s collaboration with Haiti’s authorities, though the precise terms of the agreement, including compensation details, remain undisclosed.
