Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Monday that he has ordered a three-day ceasefire in Ukraine to take place next month as a gesture of goodwill.

According to a statement published on the Kremlin’s official website, Russian forces will halt combat operations for 72 hours starting May 8 for humanitarian purposes. Ukrainian officials have not yet issued a response to this development.

This announcement follows recent calls from international figures urging Russia to pause military actions amid ongoing efforts to negotiate a truce.
