After narrowly missing out on the 2023 Formula 1 constructors’ championship by just 14 points, Ferrari has fallen sharply behind in the 2024 season. The iconic Italian team currently sits in fourth place, trailing the dominant McLaren by 165 points.
So far this season, Ferrari has managed only a single podium finish, highlighting their struggle to compete at the front of the grid.
Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari’s chief executive, acknowledged the difficulties in a recent conference call, stating, “The start of the season has been challenging for all of us.”
The team’s SF-25 car has underperformed, failing to deliver consistent speed across different race conditions. Charles Leclerc, who triumphed at his home race in Monaco last year, expressed his doubts about the team’s prospects this year.
“Unfortunately, I’m not optimistic about Monaco this time around,” Leclerc remarked after the Miami Grand Prix. “I don’t believe we have a car capable of running at the front there.”
Meanwhile, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who joined Ferrari after a long tenure at Mercedes, has yet to find his rhythm within the team.
