Blng Launches AI-Powered Platform to Revolutionize Jewelry Design
Valérie Leblond and Dumène Comploi, founders of Blng, have accelerated the traditionally intricate jewelry design process using artificial intelligence.

Designing jewelry, whether a simple pearl earring or an elaborate gem-studded brooch, often involves intricate steps and numerous revisions. Questions like whether a piece looks better in rose gold or white gold, or if rubies should replace diamonds, are common challenges for designers.

Blng, a cutting-edge application harnessing artificial intelligence, claims to dramatically reduce design time by instantly transforming rough sketches or drawings into highly detailed, photorealistic renderings. This capability streamlines the process of producing visuals ready for client presentations or manufacturing.

According to Valérie Leblond, who developed the app alongside her husband, Dumène Comploi, the input can be anything from a sketch and photograph to a simple keyword. “Inspiration can come from many sources, so we designed a platform that allows users to bring their ideas to life visually,” she explained.

Comploi illustrated the app’s versatility: “Imagine spotting a beautiful flower while hiking in the mountains. You can snap a photo, remove the background, and upload it to the app, or even start with a rough sketch directly within the platform. From there, the design can be refined using text prompts and interactive tools.”

The concept for Blng originated when Comploi, an architect and former creative designer at Walt Disney Imagineering, was crafting an engagement ring for Leblond. He collaborated with a manufacturer he knew, sparking conversations about developing a system capable of converting hand-drawn sketches into three-dimensional jewelry renderings.

Leblond, who has a background in production and development for Cirque du Soleil in Montreal, and Comploi, married since 2018, combined their creative and technical expertise to bring this innovative design tool to life.
