Newsmax, a conservative cable network, has agreed to pay $67 million to settle a defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems. The lawsuit alleged that Newsmax broadcast false statements claiming Dominion rigged votes during the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

The settlement, finalized on August 15, was revealed in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing by Newsmax, which stated the payment would be made in three installments, with the final payment due by January 15, 2027.

A representative for Dominion confirmed the settlement in a public statement, expressing satisfaction that the dispute was resolved. Meanwhile, Newsmax did not issue an apology but maintained that its reporting adhered to professional journalistic standards and was both fair and balanced.
